After more than a decade serving as the primary sponsor for the No. 17 team, DEWALT will run its last race aboard the No. 17 Ford Fusion this weekend at Homestead, roushfenway.com reports.
Impact:
Kenseth should send DEWALT out with a bang at Homestead. The Roush Fenway Racing veteran has been quite dominant at the 1.5-mile oval the last two seasons. He may not challenge for the win in Sunday's Ford 400, but Kenseth should give a Top-10 going away present to DEWALT.
Matt Kenseth finished third in the Dickies 500 at Texas Motor Speedway on Sunday.
Impact:
Sunday's run at TMS was one of the best of the late season for Kenseth. The driver of the No. 17 Ford brought his car from 30th-starting spot over the course of the event and played sound pit strategy to capture the Top 5 at Fort Worth. Kenseth's seventh Top-5 finish of the season helped him to maintain 14th-place in the championship standings.
After a strong run and disappointing finish last week at Talladega, Matt Kenseth and the No. 17 DeWALT Team head west to Texas Motor Speedway, where they have been strong in 14 starts, including a track-leading 497 laps led, mattkenseth.com reports.
Impact:
This is a good weekend to roll the Roush Fenway veteran driver. Texas has held a lot of past success for the No. 17 team. Kenseth is a one-time winner at Fort Worth and is often seen leading laps and running with the leaders at this intermediate oval.
Matt Kenseth finished second in the NASCAR Banking 500 at Lowe's Motor Speedway on Saturday night.
Impact:
It was a surprising run for the slumping No. 17 Roush Fenway Racing team. Kenseth kept his Ford among the Top 10 for most of the race and even led 45 laps. He picked off several positions at the end and came up with the brilliant runner-up finish. It was Kenseth's best effort since cracking the Top 5 at Dover a few weeks ago.
Matt Kenseth and the No. 17 Roush Fenway Racing team have a chance to sweep Auto Club Speedway this season during Sunday's Pepsi 500 at Fontana, NASCAR PR reports.
Impact:
While it's not likely that Kenseth will roll into victory lane this Sunday, it's hard to forget his win here in February of this year. It's also hard to forget how well the Roush Fenway Racing veteran performs at this two-mile oval. He makes a great sleeper pick in any fantasy racing format.
Matt Kenseth finished third in the AAA 400 at Dover International Speedway on Sunday.
Impact:
The No. 17 team traditionally runs well at the Monster Mile and on Sunday Kenseth showed the reason why. The Roush Fenway Racing veteran kept his Ford Fusion among the Top 10 for much of the event. The Top-5 finish in the AAA 400 was only Kenseth's fifth of the season.
Matt Kenseth was fastest in Happy Hour practice for the Dover 200 Nationwide Series race at Dover International Speedway on Friday. He turned a fast lap of 152.374 mph.
Impact:
Kenseth beat out Mike Bliss to turn the fastest laps of final practice at the Monster Mile. The No. 16 Roush Fenway Ford looks very fast heading into Saturday's race at Dover. Kenseth loves this track and he should challenge for the victory in the Dover 200.
Matt Kenseth finished 25th in the Chevy Rock & Roll 400 at Richmond International Raceway on Saturday night.
Impact:
It was a horrible night at the track for the No. 17 team at RIR. Kenseth had all kinds of problems, and was highlighted by his mistake on pit road when he missed his pit stall during a stop. Kenseth battled the rest of the evening but couldn't muster any more than a 25th-place finish. He falls out of the Chase as a result and finished NASCAR's regular season 14th in the standings.
Matt Kenseth's Chase hopes are coming down to the wire and he needs a strong showing at Richmond this Saturday night. Kenseth has had success at Richmond International Raceway in the past, winning there in 2002, and having a total of nine Top 10's throughout his career, roushfenway.com reports.
Impact:
The No. 17 team is on the Chase bubble heading to Richmond. Kenseth will be very cautious yet aggressive to lock up his spot in the Top 12 during the Chevy Rock & Roll 400. There is no margin for error for the Roush Fenway Racing veteran. A poor finish could result in losing his current spot in the Chase.
