In this year's spring race at Phoenix, Newman was leading with six laps remaining, before being shuffled back in the field, ryannewman.org reports.
Impact:
"I look forward to Phoenix, it's a driver's racetrack because it's unique," explained Newman. "It's different from one end to the other. And, therefore, the crew chief can only get one end perfect, it seems, and the other one the driver has to adapt to. Phoenix is one of my favorite tracks and I know Tony (Gibson, crew chief) feels the same." Newman has the ability to score a Top-10 finish in Sunday's Checker Auto Parts 500 at PIR.
Ryan Newman finished 36th in the AMP Energy Drink 500 at Talladega Superspeedway on Sunday.
Impact:
Newman and teammate Tony Stewart made contact with 4 laps to go and it sent Newman's No. 39 Chevrolet flying through the air and into the infield. He actually landed on top of Kevin Harvick's No. 29 Chevrolet before tumbling into the grass. The DNF caused Newman to slide to eighth in the championship standings.
Ryan Newman produced another strong short track result, finishing seventh in Sunday's NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Martinsville Speedway, ryannewman.org reports.
Impact:
The No. 39 Stewart-Haas Racing team appears to be heating up again. Newman raced among the Top 10 for much of the 500-lap event at Martinsville, and appeared poised for a Top-5 finish until some late cautions slid him back to seventh. Newman should stay on a roll again this week at Talladega Superspeedway for the AMP Energy Drink 500.
Ryan Newman won the pole for the Tums Fast Relief 500 at Martinsville Speedway on Friday afternoon. He turned a fast lap of 96.795 mph.
Impact:
Newman beat out Martinsville ace Jeff Gordon to capture his second pole of the season and 45th career pole position. He should challenge for a Top-5 finish in Sunday's 500-lap event at Martinsville Speedway.
Ryan Newman and the first-year No. 39 Stewart-Haas race team come to Martinsville Speedway this weekend still looking for that elusive first team win, ryannewman.org reports.
Impact:
"We're still looking for that elusive team win," said Newman. "We've done a very good job as a team and as an organization, but we haven't won and there is a huge desire to win that first race. Hopefully we can accomplish that goal sooner rather than later." While Newman has a great career record at Martinsville Speedway, he's not likely to find victory lane this weekend. However, he should challenge to equal the sixth-place finish he posted here in March of this year.
Ryan Newman is optimistic about his chances at Lowe's Motor Speedway this weekend. After all, he finished as runnerup in the rain-shortened event at the track in May, scenedaily.com reports.
Impact:
Newman is hoping to rally from some recent poor performances at Kansas and Fontana. His finish at Lowe's Motor Speedway in May of this year is reason to hope. The No. 39 team has the ability to crack the Top 10 on Saturday night at Charlotte.
Ryan Newman finished 22nd in the Price Chopper 400 at Kansas Speedway on Sunday.
Impact:
It just wasn't a good day at the track for the No. 39 team. Newman experienced problems and fell a couple laps down to the leaders by the end of the race. With so many Chase drivers finishing in the Top 10 on Sunday, he lost a lot of ground in the championship chase. Newman fell to ninth-place overall at 164 points behind leader Mark Martin. Newman is effectively out of the running for this season's championship.

Ryan Newman battled with his owner/driver teammate Tony Stewart in the closing laps of Sunday's AAA 400 at Dover, but he held on to capture a respectable 10th-place finish at the Monster Mile, tonystewart.com reports.
Impact:
Newman was actually battling, very carefully, for position with teammate Stewart in the closing laps at Dover. The driver of the No. 39 Chevrolet held on to collect his 14th Top 10 of the season. Newman's championship hopes are barely alive after Dover. He sits seventh in the Chase standings at 110 points behind leader Mark Martin.

Ryan Newman made another late-race charge to post a ninth-place finish in Sunday night's Pep Boys Auto 500 Sprint Cup race at Atlanta Motor Speedway, ryannewman.org reports.
Impact:

Newman just needs to finish 16th or better (without leading a lap) at Richmond this week to clinch a berth in the Chase for the Cup.
