Impact:
Mears had a great run in the RCR No. 29 Chevrolet. It was his first Nationwide Series start of the season, and Mears cashed in on the brilliant runner-up finish. He will hope to carry the momentum of this good effort into Sunday's Sprint Cup event at Fort Worth.
Casey Mears will make his 250th-career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series start this weekend in the Dickies 500 at Texas Motor Speedway, Richard Childress Racing PR reports.
Impact:
Mears should celebrate the milestone start in good fashion. He and the No. 07 team have been racing well lately and Mears boasts good stats at the Fort Worth oval. Mears should challenge the Top 15 in Sunday's Dickies 500.
Sound pit strategy allowed Casey Mears and the No. 07 Jack Daniel's Chevrolet team to come from the back of the pack in Saturday's NASCAR Banking 500 to finish seventh at Lowe's Motor Speedway, mearsgang.com reports.
Impact:
The No. 07 team is really hitting their stride right now. Mears has been a regular face in the Top 15 the last several races, and he made a late charge to crack the Top 10 at LMS on Saturday night. Mears should continue to garner fantasy racing consideration at Martinsville Speedway this week.
Casey Mears and the No. 07 Jack Daniel's team earned their 11th Top-15 finish of the season in Sunday's Pepsi 500 at Auto Club Speedway, mearsgang.com reports.
Impact:
Mears continues to race well as the season comes to a close. He's been void of any fantasy racing value until recent weeks. The No. 07 team should continue to collect Top-15 finishes in most of the remaining races.
The No. 07 RCR team will unload chassis No. 248 this weekend for the Pepsi 500. This chassis was raced at both New Hampshire Motor Speedway events this year starting 21st and finishing 11th in June, and starting 19th and finishing 13th in September, mearsgang.com reports.
Impact:
Mears has been a Top 15 driver a lot recently. His No. 07 team has finally gathered some momentum and consistency. Mears crack the Top 10 at the similar two-mile oval in Brooklyn, Michigan a few weeks ago. He makes an excellent fantasy racing sleeper pick for this Sunday's race at Auto Club Speedway.
Richard Childress Racing hasn't picked up the option on Casey Mears' contract and likely won't unless a sponsor is found to keep four cars in the organization, ESPN.com reports.
Impact:
The departure of Jack Daniels from NASCAR has likely sealed the fate of Mears at Richard Childress Racing. The journeyman driver will be looking for another Sprint Cup Series ride in 2010.
After a respectable 13th-place finish at New Hampshire last weekend, Casey Mears and the No. 07 team come to Dover this week ranked 20th in the championship standings and looking for another good run, mearsgang.com reports.
Impact:
The No. 07 Richard Childress Racing team has been respectable in recent weeks. Mears is clearly racing for a new gig in 2010, so urgency to finish well is paramount.
