The move to the No. 1 Chevrolet team could be a boost for McMurray's sagging career. The former Ganassi Racing driver is having a homecoming of sorts in reuniting with owner Chip Ganassi. McMurray had his best seasons in Sprint Cup racing with Ganassi, finishing 11th and 12th in the standings in 2004 and 2005.
Rumor has it that a one-year deal was inked last Wednesday between Jamie McMurray and Earnhardt Ganassi Racing, FOX Sports reports.
Impact:
McMurray has been the front-runner for the No. 1 Chevrolet for some time. It appears that he has signed with Earnhardt-Ganassi to drive the team's car in 2010. There are no official details from the team yet, but a announcement should come soon.

There's nothing confirmed on this report yet, but according to the source an official announcement could come from Earnhardt Ganassi Racing next week. Among the available free agent drivers McMurray was an obvious choice to take over the No. 1 Chevrolet team.

You can cross McMurray's name off the list of candidates to takeover Martin Truex Jr's ride at Earnhardt-Ganassi Racing next season. His contract is up with Roush Fenway Racing at the end of this season, and McMurray's future in the Sprint Cup Series looks uncertain right now.

The Roush Fenway veteran driver is looking for a good finish at Kansas this Sunday. He's only cracked the Top 20 once in the last four races. The team is bringing a good intermediate oval car to Kansas Speedway. McMurray could challenge the Top 20 on Sunday afternoon in the Price Chopper 400.
In his 14 Sprint Cup Series starts at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Jamie McMurray averages 19.8 finishing position and has four Top-10 fnishes at the intermediate oval, roushfenway.com reports.

McMurray has cracked the Top 15 in each of his last two visits to AMS. Intermediate ovals have always been a strength for McMurray despite his very average stats at Atlanta. The No. 26 Ford team should crack the Top 15 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
