  Jimmie Johnson finished fifth in the Ford 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Sunday. As a result of the Top-5 finish Johnson wins the 2009 NASCAR Sprint Cup Championship.

  Impact:
  Make it four in a row for Johnson and the Hendrick Motorsports No. 48 team. Johnson ran among the leaders the entire race and turned in one of his best Homestead performances. He captures his fourth straight Sprint Cup title as a result and makes NASCAR history as the first driver to win four consecutive championships.

  Jimmie Johnson won the pole for the Ford 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Friday. He turned a fast lap of 173.919 mph.

  Impact:
  The No. 48 team picked the perfect time to capture their fourth pole of the season. Johnson beat out the field with a lap that was a full one mph faster that the second fastest qualifier Scott Speed. Johnson will start from the inside of row one for Sunday's race at Homestead, and that will almost assure that he will collect his fourth straight Sprint Cup championship after the conclusion of the Ford 400.

  Impact:
  The No. 48 team took one step closer to the title on Sunday at PIR. Johnson led the most laps and won his seventh race of the season. The victory extends his championship standings lead to 108 points over Mark Martin heading into next week's final race at Homestead.

  Jimmie Johnson was fastest in Happy Hour practice for the Checker Auto Parts 500 at Phoenix International Raceway on Saturday. He turned a fast lap of 132.348 mph.

  Johnson edged Mark Martin to turn the fastest laps of final practice at PIR. The two will likely do battle for the win on Sunday at Phoenix. Johnson has won three of the last five races at the one-mile oval so he is a heavy favorite to win the Checker Auto Parts 500.

  Jimmie Johnson finished 38th in the Dickies 500 at Texas Motor Speedway on Sunday.

  Impact:
  Johnson saw his championship standings lead fall into jeopardy on Sunday at Fort Worth. He became involved in a wreck on lap 3 when Sam Hornish Jr. made contact with Johnson's Chevrolet. The spin sent Johnson crashing into the wall and put his car behind the wall for over an hour as his crew made repairs. Johnson saw his championship standings lead over Mark Martin shrink from 184 to 73 points as a result.

  Jimmie Johnson was fastest in Happy Hour practice for the Dickies 500 at Texas Motor Speedway on Saturday. He turned a fast lap of 186.670 mph.

  Impact:
  Johnson turned the fastest laps of final practice on Saturday at TMS, which came as no surprise. He edged Carl Edwards to turn the fastest laps of the session. The No. 48 has been dominant at this intermediate oval, and he will be a contender for the win in Sunday's Dickies 500.

  Johnson rode out most of the 500-mile race at the back of the pack. With 11 laps to go he made his move and moved quickly to the front. Johnson avoided the two major wrecks in the last 4 laps and secured a solid Top-10 finish in the AMP Energy Drink 500.   Jimmie Johnson was awarded the provisional pole for the AMP Energy Drink 500 at Talladega Superspeedway on Saturday as qualifying was rained out.

  Championship standings leader Johnson assumed the pole as rain washed out Sprint Cup qualifying at Talladega. Johnson will use the good starting position to hopefully stay out of trouble early in Sunday's race at Talladega.

  The No. 48 team had a good day at the track on Sunday. Johnson led several laps and battled with race-winner Denny Hamlin for much of the event. He couldn't pass the No. 11 Toyota in the closing laps, but Johnson held on for the great runner-up finish. It was good enough for Johnson to extend his championship standings lead to 118 points over Mark Martin.

  Impact:
  It was no surprise to see the No. 48 team take control late at Charlotte on Saturday evening. Johnson lurked for most of the race, and as the laps were winding down he took the lead for good. The victory was his sixth of the season, and gives Johnson a 90-point lead over Mark Martin in the Chase standings.

  It's shaping up to be a Johnson/Mark Martin battle on Saturday night at Lowe's Motor Speedway. The two Hendrick Motorsports drivers have been consistently the fastest drivers all weekend long at Charlotte. Johnson will be a top contender for the win in the NASCAR Banking 500.

  The cars were short of failing inspection, but considering how dominant Martin and Johnson have been lately, this is an eye-opening story. The rumors of NASCAR's bias and favoritism are bound to stir in the wake of this report. Needless to say, post-race inspection for the remainder of the Chase will not be taken lightly.
