The No. 9 team have been up-and-down over the years at Phoenix. Kahne enjoyed some early success at the one-mile oval but has struggled there in recent seasons. He scored a Top-15 finish in April's Subway Fresh Fit 500, and that's likely the same performance Kahne will turn in this Sunday afternoon at PIR.

Kahne and the No. 9 team were the biggest threat to Jimmie Johnson at LMS on Saturday night. He piloted the No. 9 to 67 laps led and he came on strong at the end of the race to crack the Top 5. The strong finish continues a great record for Kahne at Charlotte. He moves up a couple spots in the championship standings to ninth-place overall as a result.

The No. 9 team is going to play it safe this weekend at the Monster Mile. A broken crankshaft gave Kahne a DNF last weekend at Loudon. The RPM team will switch back to the old Dodge R5 engine for the AAA 400 this weekend. This will be a temporary solution until new crankshafts can be made available for the new R6 engine.

The Richard Petty Motorsports star should make up for that disappointment in this Sunday's Sylvania 300.

Kasey Kahne has finally been able to wipe his hands from an alleged shoving incident at Homestead-Miami Speedway in November 2007. According to Miami-Dade County court records, a lawsuit brought by track security guard Archibald Hutchinson against Kahne and NASCAR was dismissed Aug. 24, scenedaily.com reports.

This ugly incident has been hanging over Kahne's head for almost two years. The misdemeanor battery charge was dismissed in June, and now it appears the civil suit has also been dropped. There were no terms disclosed regarding Kahne's settlement with the security guard.
